Website Builders

Eight hosted website builders compared on what the vendor publishes: the entry price and the term it requires, storage and bandwidth, the free domain, transaction fees and the refund window.

A website builder is a subscription you will still be paying in three years, so the two numbers that matter are the price of the plan you will actually end up on and what happens to your site if you stop paying. Almost every builder here advertises a monthly figure that requires an annual — or, at Hostinger, a four-year — commitment.

This category records the advertised figure together with the term it requires, and the month-to-month price wherever the vendor publishes one. Weebly, Duda and Shopify print both. Hostinger prints the renewal price. Squarespace publishes its transaction-fee ladder in detail but renders no plan price in the page we read. Framer publishes hard page and CMS ceilings that most rivals leave vague.

Beyond price we record what the entry plan includes: whether a custom domain is free and for how long, whether ads are removed, and whether storage and bandwidth are published as numbers or as the word "unlimited". We did not build a production site on each platform. Anything the plan page did not state stays unknown here.
